Cherwell

My name is Danielle, and I have been a Local Coordinator for White House Guardianships since 2015. I cover the Cherwell area, which includes much of Oxfordshire. I am married to Liam, and we have two boys, Alfie and Louie. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym and playing badminton.

Before becoming a Local Coordinator, I worked in social care for the Local Authority, supporting disadvantaged young children. This is also where I met my husband, who at the time worked in residential care services. We later became host parents ourselves, which inspired me to take on the role of coordinator. Hosting was a wonderful experience for our family, and we remain close to many of our former students, who became an important part of our lives. We do continue to host as the experience has been enriching for our children, who genuinely love welcoming our international guests.

My husband now runs a care consultancy business, helping others set up children’s homes and delivering safeguarding and behaviour support training. I run a property management and serviced accommodation business in and around Oxford.

One of my dreams is to go whale watching and to travel more of the world.

About the Area

Oxfordshire is a beautiful county which exhibits stunning countryside and a wealth of history to learn about. There are many interesting museums and even a palace (Blenheim) to visit. It is very well known for the prestigious University of Oxford. There are many other famous colleges that are open for the public to visit. Parts of Harry Potter were filmed in Oxford too.

One thing many visitors to Oxford like to do is to go ‘punting’ on one of the famous rivers either the Thames or Cherwell, an ideal summer’s day treat or go shopping at the historic ‘Covered Market’.

Oxford has direct links by rail or coach to Heathrow, Gatwick, Southampton and Birmingham airports and to London Paddington or Marylebone stations.
Oxford has produced a notable music band call Radiohead and they attending Abingdon School.

Oxford is twinned with the following cities: Bonn in Germany, Grenoble in France, Leiden in the Netherlands, Leon in Nicaragua, Perm in Russia, Catania in Italy and Benevento in Italy.
